Many of you have heard the name, but what exactly is Juvederm and why would you want it?
Basically, Juvederm is a dermal filler. We have all heard about 'fillers', but what exactly can fillers do for you? Well, you can add volume to plump your lips, smooth facial lines, and you can also lift and contour cheeks.
- What does Juvederm contain? Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural occurring substance found in the human body that is utilized to deliver volume to our skin. It stimulates the production of connective tissue (collagen) that plumps the skin.
- Is there down time? Minimal downtime is expected with dermal fillers such as Juvederm. Possible immediate side effects could include swelling at the injection site and potentially bruising. If needed, here at Renu Laser and Skin Care, you will be given an ice pack to aid with swelling and bruising. You can also prepare prior to your appointment to help avoid swelling and bruising by: avoiding medication like aspirin, ibuprofen, and St. John's Wort prior to your appointment. You will also want to avoid alcohol prior to your appointment as these things can lead to bruising during your procedure.
Juvederm Types:
- Juvederm Voluma: Adds volume beneath your skin's surface to increase your cheek size.
- Juvederm XC or Juvederm Vollure XC: Targets and addresses the loss of your skin's elasticity and helps to fill out wrinkles and lines around your nose and mouth. Many will target their 'smile lines' with this product.
- Juvederm Ultra XC or Juvederm Volbella XC: used as a non-surgical method to enhance and plump lips.
