Photorejuvenation
- What are benign vascular and pigmented lesions?
Benign vascular lesions, red in color, are caused by an abnormal clustering of blood vessels. (broken capillaries) Pigmented lesions, less widespread, are clusters of melanin in the skin and are brown in color.(sun spots) While some lesions may face others become more pronounced over time.
- What to expect?
Most lesions can be treated within half an hour, and for best results, repeated treatments may be required. Before treatment, a cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated. Then pulses of light are delivered to the target area.
- Is it safe?
AFT's high level of light and gentle energy parameters assure safe effective treatment. Uniquely shaped AFT pulses precisely heat their intended targets, causing remarkably little or no skin damage.
- Does it hurt?
Arrive 30 minutes prior to treatment so that a topical numbing cream can be applied. This will make your treatment much more comfortable. While pain tolerance is an individual matter, most people tolerate AFT pulsed light treatment well, and describe the sensation as a slight rubber band snap to the skin.
- Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear flushed, brown pigmented spots may appear darker and capillaries may be more visible. To help guarantee the best results limit your exposure to the sun for several weeks before and after treatment.
Laser Hair Removal
- How does laser hair removal work?
A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted is well absorbed by the pigment located in hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment, disabling numerous follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair's growth
- What do I need to know?
The hair in the area to be treated needs to be short or shaved. If you wax or tweeze wait at least 3 weeks before starting laser treatments. We can work on dark skin, but if you have tanned recently wait 3 weeks before starting laser treatments. After your laser treatment there will be little, if any, need to shave. You will absolutely see a difference after the first treatment.
- What about after care?
Immediately after your laser treatment the skin will be slightly pink for 15-20 minutes-no irritation. There is no special after care needed.
- Is laser hair removal painful?
Because the laser is constantly in motion, many patients say that Pain Free, Hair Free treatments feel similar to a "hot stone massage."
- How long do the treatments take?
The treatment time can vary considerably depending on the size of the area treated, and the particular technique used. A small area such as the upper lip may take only five minutes, while a larger area like the back or legs may take up to one hour. Since the laser affects only those hairs in the growing stage, and not all hairs will be in this stage at the same time, several treatments will most likely be needed to effectively remove all the hair from one area. Subsequent sessions will be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart.
Botox
- What causes frown lines between the brows?
The lines that appear between your brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. When powerful muscles between the brows contract, they draw the brows together, causing the skin to fold or furrow. As skin becomes less elastic with age, those folds or furrows result in stubborn lines.
Because frown lines are dynamic lines caused y overactive muscles, they can usually be treated with tiny injections of BOTOX Cosmetic.
Static lines, on the other hand, are lines that are visible evn when the muscles are at rest. These lines are usually treated with a filler, such as JUVEDERM injectable gel.
- How does BOTOX Cosmetic work?
During treatment, very low does of BOTOX are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines between the brows. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, BOTOX enables them rto relax. The effects are very localized and, when administered properly,do not affect your ability so smile, laugh, or otherwise show expression.
- What are the common side effects?
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection.
- What is the treatment like?
BOTOX is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes, and there is no downtime afterward. Discomfort is minimal and brief.
- Who is being treated with BOTOX?
Men and women of varying ethnicities have been treated with BOTOX. Because it works only on the underlying muscles, it is not expected to affect skin color.
Have patients been happy with their results?
A 2005 survey reported that 97% of patients were satisfied with results of their BOTOX treatment.
Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Although you may see a marked improvement, a treatment with BOTOX does not make you look like you've "had work done." The muscle activity that causes frown lines is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
How soon will I see a difference?
You can expect to see results within days after your treatment, and the appearance of the area between your brows may continue to improve for up to a week.
